We own 8200 square metres of land at Glentui, 50 minutes from Christchurch. The land is at the edge of Mt Richardson State Forest and actually includes some native beech forest. The immediate surroundings are picturesque and on a fine day, the views are breath taking. On one side lies a densely forested valley with hills rising to about 1000 meters. On the other side the expanse of the Canterbury Plains stretches towards Christchurch and the distant ocean. Without doubt this is an excellent spot for meditation. And all this only 50 minutes from Christchurch! In 2002, the five surrounding sections were bought by European Diamond Way sangha, and in December 2003 the last remaining section in the subdivision went to a German friend.
The project has now become truly international and plans are evolving into a small “Buddhist Village” with a central retreat house with meditation room surrounded by sangha houses and overlooked by a stupa.

Development of the land has not started yet. To build the retreat house and stupa, we need all the help we can get, in the form of ideas, enthusiasm, labour, and financial support. If you want to be involved, or if you just want to see the land, you are most welcome to contact us.
